Registered Civil Engineer

We are seeking a full-time enthusiastic and professional MA Registered Civil Engineer (or soon to be Registered Civil Engineer) to join our great team in our Westborough, MA Office. In this role, you will have various responsibilities involving the design and oversight of commercial and residential land development projects.

Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Utilize AutoCAD / Civil 3D and other design tools to prepare site design plans for various land development projects – residential, commercial, institutional, and occasionally municipal
  • Work with other staff on new business development, schedule weekly work assignments, prepare proposals and invoices
  • Prepare and present reports and applications at public meetings detailing proposed designs, environmental benefits and other pertinent information
  • Observe project sites and monitor progress of construction to ensure work conforms to applicable standards, regulations, and design specifications


Qualifications and Skills Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience preparing grading, drainage, utility, roadway and site design plans
  • Must possess a current Massachusetts PE license (or be able to obtain registration within 18 months of employment)
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD / Civil 3D and HydroCAD
  • Strong stormwater hydrology/hydraulics experience
  • Must possess knowledge of town and state land development and construction permitting requirements
  • Working knowledge of land surveying techniques and standards
  • Expertise in construction administration
  • Ability to work with clients, town boards, cooperating subs, and other project related parties to maintain smooth project management
  • Self-directed, organized and self-motivated to accomplish goals
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment

About the Role

As an Entry-Level Landscape Architect/Designer, you will be integral to our production team. You’ll collaborate across disciplines—landscape architecture, surveying, permitting, and civil engineering—at every project phase, from feasibility studies and schematic design to construction documentation and administration.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams to bring innovative designs to life
  • Assist in developing site designs, from feasibility studies through permitting and construction documentation
  • Draft plans using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and LandFX
  • Prepare layout, grading, and construction detailing for all project phases
  • Create compelling presentation materials using Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Visit project sites occasionally to observe and document progress

 

What We’re Looking For

  • A professional degree in landscape architecture
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in a landscape architecture or civil engineering firm
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, LandFX, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong understanding of materials, grading, layout plans, planting design, and construction detailing, with a willingness to learn and grow
  • Excellent teamwork skills, dependability, and the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment

 

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with SketchUp, Lumion, Rhino, or other graphic presentation tools
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and graphic)
  • Knowledge of New England plant communities and ornamental plants for planting design
